Out of Character Activites/Contests
» Any Jaded Shadows member may organize an activity for the pack. This can be anything from a pack-only chat to a pack pride contest. Be creative! However, if there is currently a contest/activity running, please wait until it is complete before starting a new one.

Rank Shuffles
» The ranks will be reviewed on a bi-monthly basis, tentatively in the last week of every even-numbered month. Help by keeping your tally thread as up to date as possible.

The Jaded Shadows Tally
» In the other packs, the tally thread consists only of a link to post logs and/or a list of threads. In Jaded Shadows, however, the tally thread is a little more complex and involved, and includes ooc activity information and ic character updates. This helps the leadership make more accurate and fair decisions when it comes to ranks and also provides as a resource to keep track of whats going on in the lives of shadows members.

» As a general policy, anybody interested in a co-rank (Apothecary, Aufpasser, Baird, Jester, Keeper or Prolific) should state their interest in this thread or let the leadership know via e-mail. Keep track of pertinent threats in your [tally thread] for review.

Greeting Policy
» Spahers and Wahrens have dibs on greeting newcomers. Should a joining thread have no response after 48 hours, any wolf Spaher ranked or above may reply, The board-wide rule stands that only leadership ranks may accept or decline joinees.

In Character Get Togethers
» In Jaded Shadows, any member may organize a non-mandatory in character activity for the pack. No permission is required for rank or co-rank related threads. For example, a Jager can organize a hunt or the Jester a friendly game of tag. Got an idea that doesnt really fit your characters rank? No problem just check with the leadership for permission first.

OOC "Prep" Information

This was origionally supposed to be for spring, but like everybody else, the last few months have been wacky busy. Which is why we now have a spring/summer activity, since spring is just about gone. =D

So whats it all about?
If you remember the [new years thread], Mordulin built a half-ass fireplace for the festive occasion. What Id like to do is make the area the official Jaded Shadows gathering place, which will be more and more useful as we arrange pack-specific holidays and were traditions.

Note: For those of you who are familiar with Mordulins howling stone, as the traditional meeting spot, no worries. The stone will still be used as a howling point and meeting place for serious occasions. The fireplace area will be for celebrations.

Where is this place, and what does it look like?
The spot is located on the inland (western) side of the mountain, at about half of the full elevation. It is a grassy meadow, a clearing in the thick of the forest; perhaps the remenants of an old beaver pond, as there is a spring not far away close enough that the faint rush of water can be heard.

Here is a rough map I did in paint.
The meeting place sits in a half-closed bowl on the mountainside. The bottom of the bowl is a the grassy meadow which contains the half-finished fireplace from winter. The dark green/highland area on the map represents the side of the bowl: a sloping hillside twelve to fifteen feet high and at varying in steepness from thirty to forty degrees. Beyond the bowls rim, the mountain follows its normal, less severe, slope. The slope is rocky and scarcely vegetated, but beyond the forest grows thickly.

And the willow tree? The willow tree is ancient, its tangled roots firmly planted in the transition space between slope and meadow. Well over forty feet tall, it has a diameter nearly twice that amount and provides a shady atmosphere to much of the clearing.

Features were going to be adding
The idea of the spring/summer activity is to change the raw clearing described above into the picture seen on the map. If youre up to it, Id like to rp as much out as possible itll be fun, ya?

» Fireplace
Central gathering point that needs quite a bit attention. The loose stone circle from last winter needs to be touched up and a bit of a pit dug for the fire. The area surrounding should be vegetation-free, which means a bit of grass needs to be uprooted. Also, seating is an issue for chilly nights old tree-trunk sized logs or mossy stones need to be brought in.
IC Guidelines: Adults only. Well need a few brawny males to bring in logs for seating. Otherwise anybody in good physical condition can arrange stones and uproot the grass.

» Firewood Shelter
Wood burns best when dry and holidays dont wait for opportune weather. Hence, one of the main chores will be to build a shelter to keep firewood dry. Wooden frame, thatched roof from tall grass or reeds.
IC Guidelines: Adults only, preferrably those with experience building things or accustomed to using tools. Perhaps a two-part thread, one for building the framework, a second for gathering and binding the thatching for the roof.

» Planted Hedge
From behind, the firewood shelter wont be too pretty. Bushes and/or climbing plants will be brought in to conceal it.
IC Guidelines: Anybody able to plant good-sized bushes.

» Hillside Wildflowers
Part of the reason the bowl-meadow has stayed intact over the eons is due to the rocky, anti-erosive nature of the relatively steep slopes. Only rough vegetation grows there: not very eye-catching. This is a side-task: turning the unattractive hillside into a low-maintenance garden.
IC Guidelines: Anybody. Someone with a green thumb needed to organize what gets planted where.

» Paths
The two cream colored rectangles represent paths. For the most part, theyre obvious and follow natural breaks in the hillside. The main entrance, however, is a bit overgrown and some vegetation should be clipped back.

Option II: Vegetation is not clipped back, instead plants are pruned in an effort to conceal the entrance from outside eyes.
IC Guidelines: Anybody thread could be combined with Hedge-planting group.

» Firewood
Once finished, the firewood shelter needs to be filled, not just with logs but also twigs and kindling.
IC Guidelines: Anybody and everybody. Make a bit of a game out of it, and then party at the end. =D

In Character threads
I figured the building process will take place in a series of threads each month for three months if everybodys up to it. Translated, we can assume ICily that the participating characters got together roughly once a week to work on the project. Each of the tasks mentioned above would be a thread topic, as suggested by the IC footnotes.

IC Assumptions
Firstly) Assume that Mordulin called a meeting for volunteers to work in the summer. If your character is taking part in any way, then he or she was at this meeting, during which Mordulin explains her ideas and starts to organize things. Afterwards, wolves arrange themselves into groups and who is doing what. (If I had been more prompt, this would have been rpd out ICily in May)
Secondly) This idea has been stewing in Mordulins head for a while. That means shes also done a bit of preparing, and has fetched tools, seeds, and rope from the Concrete Jungle. The reeds for the thatching still need to be gathered, as do the bushes for the concealing hedge. Otherwise, everything your character needs should already be there.
