this is the prelude thread to a pack-wide activity concerning the ideas discussed here for the past couple of months. all are welcome to respond, but I'm limiting it to a total of four (mordulin + another three). we'll be going pretty fast paced, short posts and with a very loose posting order, so please don't join if you're not going to be able to work with those criteria.

Mordulin had a lot invested into the pack that lived on the forested slopes of the Ashen Mountain. A lot of her life had taken place under the slanted shadows of the woodlands, and there were a lot of memories stored up for her in there. Certain places stood out among the others, however, and there were few places more memory-laden than the den where she had given birth (what felt like) all those long years ago. What lingered there for her was both precious and bittersweet, and it was seldom that she visited the cavelike cavern.
What drew her that particular day she wasn't quite sure. Perhaps a desire to pull up those old memories, or perhaps it was a nudge from instinct, a hint to tell her that something wasn't quite as it once was. She could see that the latter was true with every approaching step. The waterfall that had once been right outside the doorstep was now shifted several dozen meters to the right and the doorway that had squeezed on her pregnant belly was now wide enough for a shifted were to walk through with only a minor crouch.
At that point, Mordulin began the slow process of shifting, paying attention to detail as the changes began to affect her body. Nearly a half-hour later (she shifted extremely slowly anymore, save an emergency) the raven lady hoovered in the cavern's doorway, eyes flickering to adjust to the sudden twilight. What she saw was both familiar to the minute detail and somehow radically changed.
